What Happens When the Fit Is Finally Right
Craig Traveled to Minnesota and Was Walking on Day One
Craig made the trip to our facility in the Twin Cities to work with the team. He was fitted with a custom water leg, a prosthetic built specifically for use in water, and was up and walking on it the first day he arrived.
"What an amazing operation to experience: On the first day Mike and his team had me up and walking on my customized, state of the art prosthetic leg! Of course I was so excited I went to every bit of water I could find to put it to the test: hot tub, shower, pool...even the ocean down in Mexico."

Barb Hinrichs of White Bear Lake spent nearly six months in hospitals and a rehabilitation center, enduring six surgeries and relearning basic tasks like swallowing and walking after losing both hands and both feet. While in the hospital, she met the Tillges team.

Jed Lost His Leg in a Farming Accident. He Hasn't Slowed Down Since.
Three years ago, Jed's life changed in an instant when his leg became caught in a piece of farming equipment. The accident resulted in the amputation of his left lower limb below the knee. He found Tillges Orthotics & Prosthetics through a Wiggle Your Toes mobility clinic.
Since then, Jed has picked up wake surfing, snowboarding, and hockey. He works construction, farms on the weekends, plows snow in the winter, and keeps looking for the next adventure.
Gunnar Went from Patient to Practitioner.
Gunnar's journey with limb loss started when he was just 3 years old, after a lawn mower accident resulted in the amputation of his foot below the ankle. He grew up active, playing soccer, basketball, and competing in track and field. He has traveled the world with his prosthesis, including trips to Australia, Germany, South Africa, and Egypt.
Gunnar was already a patient at Tillges Orthotics & Prosthetics when he decided to join the team as a prosthetic technician. He is now pursuing his Masters in Orthotics and Prosthetics at Concordia University. His advice to anyone starting this journey: "Know that you are a whole person."

Step by step, from first call to heading home.
1. A Conversation
Call us or use our contact form. Your first call takes about 15 to 20 minutes. We'll ask about your history, your current device, and what you're hoping for. You don't need everything ready. Just start the conversation.
2. A Plan
We review your information and build a care plan with you. If we need to coordinate with your physician, we handle that. We'll give you a realistic timeline so you can book travel with confidence.
3. Getting Ready
Before your visit, have your patient registration form, insurance cards, physician's prescription, and any relevant medical records ready. We'll help with out-of-state or out-of-network insurance questions.
4. Travel to the Twin Cities
You arrange your own travel. MSP airport is 20 minutes away, and we'll recommend hotels when you call. Give yourself extra time at airport security. TSA Cares (855-787-2227) can help.
5. Your Time with Us
Evaluation, casting, fabrication, and fitting all happen under one roof. Your prosthetist works with you one-on-one, and our fabrication team is steps away. Adjustments that take weeks elsewhere happen in hours.
6. Fitting and Fine-Tuning
You receive your device and walk with it. Our team watches your gait, listens to your feedback, and adjusts in real time. You leave when the device is right, not when the schedule says so.
7. Heading Home

Most patients plan for about a week. Because we fabricate on-site, the timeline is shorter than clinics that outsource. We'll give you a specific estimate after your first call.
Your device and clinical care may be covered by insurance. We handle that coordination. Travel, hotel, and meals are your responsibility. We'll talk through the full picture before you commit.
